Help Keep the Historic Steam Tug Challenge Alive
We need your support to protect a rare piece of Britain’s maritime heritage.
The Steam Tug Challenge is one of the last of her kind — a living, breathing link to our seafaring past. She played a vital role in World War II, including the heroic evacuation of Dunkirk. Today, she stands as a symbol of resilience and craftsmanship, lovingly maintained by volunteers.
But time and tide wait for no ship.
Challenge urgently needs to be taken out of the water for essential hull repairs and routine maintenance. Dry docking a vessel of this size comes at a significant cost — and we can’t do it without your help.
Your donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward:
- Covering high dry-docking fees
- Carrying out vital hull repairs
- Ensuring Challenge stays safe, sound, and seaworthy for future generations
With your help, we can preserve this historic vessel and keep her story alive — not in a museum, but in motion, where she belongs.
Please support the Steam Boat Trust today. Together, we can keep Challenge steaming strong.
