Help Victim of Drunk Driving

Donation protected
Hello all, my name is Karen Huynh and my family and I are in need of your assistance. Lauren Huynh, a registered nurse and our beloved youngest sister, survived a head-on collision, which resulted in a fatality of a fellow passenger. She had just gotten back home (Queens, NY) from visiting me in California. A drunk driver heading westbound on an eastbound lane plowed head on into the Lyft vehicle she was riding in on the Belt Parkway. Though we are very fortunate and grateful that she is alive, she has sustained numerous injuries including, but not limited to lacerations to her head and hip, two fractures on her jaw, a broken leg, a brain bleed. She has undergone several tests and surgical procedures. The road to recovery will be a long and arduous journey involving physical, speech, and psychological therapy. Unfortunately, this accident will affect her for the rest of her life, not just physically, but financially and emotionally as well. We need assistance with monthly expenses including extensive student loan debt, medical bills and equipment, lost wages, rehabilitation, physical therapy, and visits to various doctors such as orthopedic, retinal, orthodontic specialists and surgeons.

Lauren is private nurse to a child with special needs, who is both non-mobile and non-verbal. As a result of this accident she will no longer be able to care for him due to the extent of her injuries. Her medical bills and lost wages will be extensive beyond our means. We do not come from a family of wealth and everything we have, we’ve worked for. My mother is also retired and does not have to means to handle all these accumulating expenses  so a setback of this magnitude is a huge blow, especially due to her significant student loans she still owes after graduating from her advanced nursing program at Drexel University.

Our sister, is the most kind and beautiful person inside and outside. One example of her many charitable gestures include growing her hair out 10 to 12 inches long, which is about a 2-year process to donate her hair to kids with cancer. She is charitable, considerate and the sweetest person I have ever met. Ask anyone who knows her or any of her friends and they can vouch that she would drop everything in a moment’s notice to help a friend or even a stranger in need.

We feel very fortunate to have her in our lives as a best friend and sibling. We have been so touched by all the outpouring of love and support from friends and family. Please donate as much or as little as you can muster as every bit helps. We will be eternally grateful for every contribution no matter the size. Thank you so much for taking time out of your lives to read her story and for your assistance.

I am slowly sending her small transfers to assist her while she struggles to get back on her feet via Zelle. The monthly limits allow me to disburse small amounts to try to make the money you have so generously donated, stretch and cover the expenses that have been covered and unlikely ever will be. Despite our best efforts to seek justice against the perpetrator, we are looking at a long line of expenses and very little financial relief or assistance. If anyone has any information regarding the drunk driver Aleh Sheipak (age 50 from Brooklyn), such as where he was drinking that night, we would be so very very grateful.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly via [email redacted]. Thank you ever so much for your continued support.
