Hello, and thank you for taking the time to visit our page.
We are the Driffield Silver Band, based in Nafferton, just outside Driffield in East Yorkshire. In March 2026, after many years away from major contests, our band proudly took part in the North of England Area Championships for the first time in decades. Under the expert leadership of Peter Kench, every member worked tirelessly to prepare — and the hard work paid off.
Out of 10 bands competing on the day, Driffield Silver Band achieved 1st place in our section. This fantastic result means we have been invited to represent the region at the National Championships, which will take place in York on Sunday 20 September 2026.
Why we need your support
Competing at national level is an honour, but it also brings significant costs. We are raising funds to help cover:
- National Championship entry fees
- Additional rehearsals to prepare to the highest possible standard
- Transport costs for our players, conductor, and equipment
As a community band, we rely heavily on fundraising, donations, and goodwill to continue performing and representing our area. Any contribution — no matter how small — will make a genuine difference and be hugely appreciated.
Keeping brass banding alive
Brass banding has a long and proud tradition in the East Riding. By supporting Driffield Silver Band, you are helping to keep this tradition alive and thriving, while also raising the profile of our local community on a national stage.
