To know Drew is to love him! He is full of life and love!!!
Thursday evening 911 had to be called and heading to the hospital in the ambulance Drew went into cardiac arrest and they shocked him 3 times and got him back to normal rhythm. He then kept going into vtach and couldn’t get him back into normal rhythm, so they decided to intubate him to let the medicine work and his body to rest and get his heart to calm down. Around 1am they finally got it under control just in time to be air flighted to Baylor heart hospital to get the best of the best doctors to work on him. Thursday morning his doctor decided to take him into surgery because he would have normal rhythm but his blood pressure would drop really low and couldn’t get it up. He got an impella machine temporarily put in and that is working great. They waited awhile after and finally eased the sedation off and took the tube out. He’s been conscious and doing good. He’s in a lot of pain but they have him on a lot of meds, so he’s out of it and resting. It’s now just a waiting game to see if his heart is strong enough to work on his own or if he will end up needing open heart surgery and get a LVAD machine that is external and will take a lot of lifestyle change, attention, and work. Please pray that he qualifies to be on the transplant list and will end up getting a new heart because that is ultimately what Drew wants and needs!
In this long road ahead of Drew he won’t be able to work. There are a lot of medical bills as you can only imagine and normal life expenses.
He needs all the prayers and for his friends and family to come together in the utmost support for him during this time and the months to come!
Anything you can do to assist is greatly appreciated!
