Help Drew's Family During His Cancer Battle

Drew’s Unexpected Cancer Journey
I am sending out a request to anyone and everyone that will help my friend in his battle with cancer. I am asking you to open your heart and your wallets to lend a hand. I hope this message reaches far and wide to friends, to family, and anyone that has a willingness to give money to help support a good man so he will survive and have a chance to have a future with his family.
Just to give you a peek at who is asking for you to help Drew, let me tell you who I am why this is important to me. My name is Jim Johnson. Some of you may know me and others may not. Who I am is not important but sharing a few of my life details may help you to understand my role. Here are a couple of details that will help you to understand my role. Drew and I became fast friends when we worked together about 10+ years ago. Since then, we may have gotten a little older but, we still act like the same fools we were back then. When Drew got diagnosed with Cancer it struck very close to home for me because I lost my wife and the mother of my children in 2010 after battling Multiple Myeloma for 11 years. She was on 41 when she passed.
The reason I tell you that part of my story is to let you know that I know too well the struggles that Drew has already endured, the battles he fights every day, and the never-ending challenges he will face for the rest of his days. There are many parts and many phases to the battle with cancer. It affects everyone around Drew. His rock and his wife Catherine who is obviously Heaven sent to walk with my friend. His family that gives him a reason to carry on and to never give up, and all of us, his friends that want nothing more than to have Drew get healthy so he can come back to this crazy existence we all enjoy. We want him to be able to not worry when the next treatment is coming or how his numbers are going to look and then how much the bill is going to be this time just so he can stay alive. He has no choice but to follow the doctor’s opinion no matter the cost. While he waits on the government to decide when they are going give him some kind of financial assistance (probably seven months down the road), I think it would be a great thing for all of us to help Drew and his family. Just take a minute and think about how you would survive if you had everything taken away and very few means to pay for the things you need to just exist in this world. I hope you feel the passion in my words and know that they come from a place of experience. I know this exact journey and just how hard it can be.
I am not asking you to give money you don’t have but I know most of us have money we could give to help a friend and probably not miss it at all. Drew is not asking. I am asking for you to help. If you can afford to give a chunk of money then, it won’t go to waste. If you can only afford a little, it will be just as appreciated. The best gift is to give something every month until we see Drew get back on his feet and healthy. I put a goal out there ($10.000) just for the sake of a number. I will tell you from personal experience that no matter the amount of the goal, the bills will always exceed that amount. The unwritten goal in this process is showing that you care enough to give. Thank you for taking time to read this story. There is always more to say but I will leave it to Drew and Catherine to tell their story.
