Hi I’m Drew, I am an up and coming hair stylist in the twin cities, specializing in alternative cuts and colors. since moving into my new apartment 2 1/2 months ago my car has been targeted by car thieves 4 times. Despite my best efforts to protect my car with all the anti theft gear I could buy, my window has been smashed in October ($400), my door handle was smashed off ($90), and now someone has destroyed my lock cylinder and the ignition of my car despite the wheel lock being on the car during the break-in. The repair cost for my car for the most recent break in is $2,591, and my insurance will not cover it because I can’t afford a lower deductible.

This entire process has been exhausting to deal with every month, I will be trading in my car for another one that is more secure. But this means my monthly car payments will rise significantly, and I still have to pay for the repairs on my current vehicle out of pocket. I have Crohn’s disease and a Migrane disorder that I struggle to push through daily to make enough money to barely get by. I make 15 an hour and work 40-45 hours a week, including door dashing on the weekends. I’ve maxed out credit cards and relied on my family as much as they’re able to give but now I am asking for help from my community to soften the blow of these non stop break ins.
