Help Dreamer Catamarans Staff in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Rebuild Their Lives After Hurricane Melissa

The Immediate Crisis:
To past Guests of Dreamer Catamarans, Family, Friends, Fellow Jamaicans and the greater Worldwide Community:
On October 28th, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in the Southern and North-western regions of Jamaica, including the parish of St. James, leaving unimaginable devastation in its wake. For many of the dedicated, fun-loving crew members at Dreamer Catamarans, the storm didn't simply disrupt their lives, it shattered their dreams and hopes for the future.

While there are numerous ways that we - as a global community - can and will show support for Jamaica and Jamaicans, to help in the recovery effort in the wake of this catastrophe, this is one small way I believe we can help this particular group after hearing of their dire situation. I am reaching out to everyone but especially those who know this team best - who have sailed with them, shared a smile with them, and experienced their incredible Jamaican hospitality. They have always treated us like family not because it is their job, but because that is what we all are. It is an opportune time for us to rally behind them and show an outpouring of support for everything they do to make every day truly memorable, whether you are on a cruise or through daily interactions. The brave and beloved staff at Dreamer Catamarans gave so much of themselves during this crisis and have lost so much in return. They need immediate help securing shelter, food, and other necessities.

Our Connection and Purpose: Supporting the Crew:
My name is Vic Lyn from Maple, Ontario Canada. My wife and I are past guests and long-time friends of the Dreamer Catamarans team. We have had the pleasure of sailing with the crew many times and know firsthand the heart and soul they put into every trip.

Important Clarification:
While Dreamer’s management is doing its utmost to assist in the interim by providing temporary housing and meals to the workers at the business premises, this campaign is focused on securing the long-term sustenance and welfare of the displaced workers. The funds raised here are NOT for the owners or directors of Dreamer Catamarans. Every dollar raised will be dedicated to the employees who are currently struggling to rebuild their lives, securing their independence and a future outside of the temporary shelter.

The Urgent Needs of the Families:
We are fundraising for approximately 60 members of their valued staff, whose homes and belongings have been severely damaged or destroyed, leaving them and their families in dire and unsafe situations.

Their most immediate and critical needs are:
Household Stability: Funds for necessities like food, clean water, hygiene kits, and simple cooking supplies.
Secure Shelter: Funds for temporary rent, or building materials like lumber, cement, and galvanized roofing sheets to repair damaged homes and secure against future weather events.
Replacement of Essentials: Replacement of personal belongings, including lost clothing, bedding, and school supplies for their children.

Our Goal and How Your Donation Will Be Used:
The immediate fundraising goal of $75,000 is a critical first step to get these families back on their feet. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the affected staff.

Transparency and Trust: How Funds Will Be Disbursed:
We are committed to absolute honesty and transparency, especially for our family and friends who know these struggles are real.
1. Beneficiary: The funds donated will be monitored by me Victor Lyn – The Organizer in Canada and then transferred directly to my friend Donna Lee of Dreamer Catamarans in Jamaica, who is acting as the trusted local distributor and helping the staff through this ordeal.
2. Fair Distribution: The local distribution agent will ensure the funds will be used responsibly and equitably to provide for the needs of the 60 staff members affected by the hurricane.
3. Proof and Updates: I will post frequent updates on this GoFundMe page with photos, receipts of materials purchased, and staff testimonies to show the immediate, tangible impact of your generosity.
