Hi everyone. My name is Drake Fields and I was born with a large amount of medical complications. At birth, I was diagnosed with VACTERL association. VACTERL is an acronym combining 7 diagnoses. These are the different pieces of the body it affects. Vertebral, Anorectal, Cardiac, Tracheo-esophageal, Renal, and Limb anomalies.

I was born in Hollister California. When I was born, I was rushed to a different hospital in San Jose California where I spent 6 months in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). There were tons of repairs that happened in the time I was in the NICU. Part of VACTERL, Renal is what caused what is happening now. My kidneys have always been different, but they worsened in 2019. This year, my family and I took a trip to Disneyland. When we came back home, I was weak, sore in the legs, and very phyiscally unable. I was worn out. When we went to the hospital for this, they tested my blood and every number they tested was at least off-balance. Some worse than others. This left me in the hospital for a month plus. Since this hospital stay, my kidneys quickly declined. In 2023, my left kidney was removed because it looked to be only causing more harm than helping the function. Right after my left kidney was removed, my right kidney rapidly failed. In May of this year (2025) I started dialysis after fighting through every possible treatment other than dialysis. Now I'm in desperate need of a new kidney, ideally from a living donor. This GoFundMe is for my post transplant needs. Food, care, etc. I want to be set for my many weeks of recovery. I will have a caregiver wether that be a parent or not, and they will also need financial assistance. The smallest amount helps, and sharing is a giant help. Thank you all for your love and support.
