Meet Draco, Our Gentle Giant at Northern Chapter Great Dane Rescue of New England!

Draco is a sweet, loving, and playful Great Dane who came into our care with a heart full of potential. Unfortunately, like many large breeds, Draco has some behavioral challenges that we believe can be addressed with the right training. Despite our best efforts, it's clear that he needs professional help to become the well-mannered companion we know he can be.

Great Danes are known for their gentle nature, but their size and strength require careful guidance. Draco has struggled with everything as he was kept inside and severely under-socialized with humans, animals, and mother nature. We want to make sure he has the best chance at being a happy, well-behaved dog, and for that, we are turning to a professional board and train program at Harmony Dog Training in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. We are a foster based rescue largely based in Northern Vermont, finding accessibility for this dog in another state was a bit of a hurdle and we are lucky to have found this facility!

Why Board and Train?

Board and train programs are an intensive and highly effective way to address specific behavioral issues. The dog stays at a facility where professional trainers work with them daily in a controlled environment. This immersive experience will provide Draco with the structure, attention, and care he needs to thrive.

The program will focus on:

Basic obedience – Sit, stay, come, and more

Leash manners – Walking calmly and confidently

Behavioral issues – Anxiety, fear, and stress management

Socialization – Learning how to interact appropriately with other dogs and people
