Help Dr Stephen Tupman through his recovery process

Hello Friends

Many of you may not yet know, but our dear friend, 39-year-old Dr. Stephen Tupman, suffered a spontaneous hemorrhagic stroke on December 27th, 2024. He spent seven days in the neuro ICU and step-down neurology floor of SLU hospital. Dr. Stephen was given the rare diagnosis of RCVS (Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome), which is generally only seen in females 30-50 years of age after giving birth.

Given his diagnosis, we are blessed to still have him with us. And, while Dr. Stephen is doing remarkably well, he has a very long road ahead. Ongoing MRIs, lab work, and appointments with his team of specialists (neurology, cardiology, and endocrinology) are really just the beginning. With this unexpected medical emergency and diagnosis, Dr. Stephen has been unable to work, and it is unknown when he will be able to return and fully care for the patients he loves so much.

As most of you know, Dr. Stephen and his wife, Dr. Kristina Bemis Tupman, own and operate Bemis Tupman Chiropractic in Alton, Illinois. The office celebrated 5 years of business on December 5th, 2024. And while Dr. Kristina is treating as many of Dr. Stephen’s patients as possible, it doesn’t replace Dr. Stephen as the primary treating chiropractor in the office.

Dr. Stephen’s absence is not only being felt by his patients but also as a self-employed business owner, it is being felt by his family. Dr. Stephen and Dr. Kristina have two amazing daughters, ages 3 and 5, who rely on their daddy as their provider. At this time, the financial strain of unexpected hospital and doctor bills along with his inability to work is posing challenges that none of us ever want to experience.

Knowing that Dr. Stephen and Dr. Kristina have so many loving and supportive friends and family, I (Whitney Mullink, family friend) am asking that we show them how loved they truly are! Every little bit is BIG and APPRECIATED!
