We, the members of Bangladeshi Physicians and Dentist Association Canada are organizing a fundraising campaign to help our fellow Dr Sabah Tuz Zohra of Department of Paediatrics, CMCH, Bangladesh. She is a mother of a seven year old kid, and professionally a Pediatrician. Let us stand beside her so that she can battle the Cancer and win. We request all Bangladeshi physicians and Dentists in Canada to help her with donations that could help her immensely. We are attaching Dr. Sabah’s depiction of her condition below,
‘I am Dr.Sabah, Asst. Registrar, Paediatrics, CMCH. I am suffering from Dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma and osteosarcoma of right pelvic bone with metastasis with right-sided hydroureteronephrosis (DJ stent in situ). It is a kind of rare malignancy. Moreover, in my case, it has metastasized in an atypical way. According to my doctor's opinion, I am an out-of-the-book case whose disease has a unique histopathology and way of spreading.I have done type 3 internal hemipelvictomy. I have completed 6 cycles of chemotherapy (cisplatin + doxorubicin) and 39 fractions of 70GY VMAT(Radiotherapy). Both the CT and RT were of very high doses considering my disease. After the metastasis, I did a biopsy, immunohistochemistry, and NGS test and the doctors recommended Immunotherapy for me. So I have been on Immunotherapy (Pembrolizumab 200mg) for the last 1year and have completed 14 cycles. Each dose costs me more than 2 lacs per month which is way too expensive for me and my family. Alhamdulillah as the response of Immunotherapy is impressive so far, my oncologist suggested that I continue it as long as it works and there are no major side effects. I am a mother of a 7 yrs old kid and I want to live only for him. But the treatment is very expensive for me to continue. For the last 4 years I have been fighting with the disease with the help of Allah and my family. Already my family has spent around 1crore bdt and maybe I need around 50lacs more(If things go well). The cost of my medical expenses is substantial and I am unable to bear the cost on my own. I am reaching out to you in the hope that you may be able to offer any financial assistance that would help alleviate the burden on me and my family and allow me to undergo necessary treatment’
