Help Dr. Matt Harrison Fight Acute Leukemia
Donation protected
For those of you that do not know me, I am Stephanie Greeby, little sister to Dr. Matt Harrison. I am reaching out because back in June Matt was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I took him to the ER for what we thought was complications from his hernia. Little did we know how sick he truly is. The doctors were shocked he even made it into the hospital because his hemoglobin was dangerously low. In true Dr. Matt fashion, he had worked that morning and actually wanted to drive himself to the ER. I had to insist on taking him and staying by his side.
So far Matt has been through 2 rounds of chemo and countless transfusions. We are currently looking for another trial so the Oncologists can get his leukemia into remission. Once he is in remission and stable, he will need a bone marrow transplant. If you know Matt, you know he is a fighter.
I want to share a bit more background in case you don't know my brother personally. He is a strong man of faith, a wonderful father to 4 kids, a supportive brother, loving son, and a kick ass chiropractor. I once had a patient tell me my brother has "the gift". After graduating from the University of Michigan, where he was a All Big Ten Academic Varsity Gymnast, Matt attended Palmer College of Chiropractic. To help pay for school and to stay active Matt was the mascot for the Quad City Thunder. He actually has a league championship ring. Matt did a one time appearance at the Sixers, repelled from the ceiling and flipped off the mini tramp before dunking the ball. Not surprising but Philly wasn't ready for his greatness back then.
Dr. Matt is always there to lend a supporting hand. After 911, Matt volunteered at ground zero for a day to help adjust the first responders and lend his support. For years, Dr. Matt volunteered at Special Olympic events and treated all athletes like they were professionals. He is always positive, selfless, and good for a laugh.
At this point we know that he will be out of work for at least a year. The medical bills are starting to pile up and Matt's main concern is still providing for his children.
I am not known for asking for help but I will do anything and everything for my brother. My family and I appreciate your love and support.
