I met Julio 20 years ago when I was training veterinarians in orthopedic surgery at the Humane Society of Cozumel. Together, we would perform surgeries well into the night. He was eager to learn and became a gifted surgeon. He opened up his own veterinary hospital and created a great veterinary hospital for the island.
Julio was admitted to a public hospital on June 23, where unfortunately they could not provide the level of care he required. After 9 days, he was transferred to a private Hospital, where he was immediately intubated and put into the ICU. He is now receiving good quality care, but the daily charges are $3500-5000/day, and unfortunately his health insurance will not cover any of the costs. This is a fraction of what it would cost in the US, but insurmountable for him and his family.
Julio is loved by so many, not only by those who live in Cozumel, but by countless travelers with pets that have received care from him.
I know the past year has been difficult for so many- This is the first I have ever asked for help for a friend, and he really could use help now.
If you can afford even a small amount to help this man who has helped so many, it could not go to a better cause. Thank you for your compassion and generosity
