On Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, my father, Dr. Tyneil Cargill, received life-shattering news, a diagnosis that has set him on an urgent race toward life-saving treatment. He was diagnosed with multiple cancerous lesions on his left lung, one of which is obstructing the airways of his lower lung. The procedure proposed and scheduled for Monday, April 13th, 2026, will be aimed at removing any cancerous invasion of the lung and surrounding rib tissue currently present within his chest cavity.

The left chest houses the lymph nodes, lung tissue lobes, and the heart, making this an extraordinarily delicate and high-stakes surgery. The operation will be performed at Doctors Hospital by Dr. Duane Sands and his team.

We are calling on the prayers and support of every person across the length and breadth of The Bahamas. My father has spent his entire life in devoted service to every person his eyes have seen, his voice has reached, and his hands have touched. Following the procedure, he is expected to remain hospitalized for seven days under intensive medical care.

This surgery marks only the beginning of his life-saving journey. The road ahead, including home care, rehabilitative management, and monthly intravenous immunotherapy, is anticipated to exceed $30,000 per month for an estimated two years, until he reaches full remission and a cancer-free recovery.

Dr. Cargill's fight is not defined by the relationships he holds in the medical community. It is defined by whether we, as a community, can carry him beyond what his finances or his own strength can bear. He is at his lowest, and he would never ask for help himself.
