Help Dr. Bill's girls as they heal

August 18th
It is with a broken heart that I write this update.
Dr. Bill, beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away this morning, peacefully next to the love of his life. As you can imagine, the Inman girls have a long road ahead of them as they heal and learn how to walk this earth without the rock of their family. Wendy has written the final volume in "The Cancer Chronicles", in honor of Bill, and you can find it on any of the Inman Facebook pages. Thank you for the outpouring of love for the family and I hope that you will all continue to think of them and stay present in their lives, so they know they have a village to carry them through to the other side of grief and beyond. If you are able to contribute to the Go Fund Me account, these funds will be used to help them pay for the stack of medical bills, helping them have one less load to carry. Time is shorter than you ever imagine it will be, tell your loved ones how you feel often. Lala

Update as of August 16th
First of all, thank you so much to everyone that has been thinking, praying and sending words of comfort to the Inman family during this time as well as all of the generous contributions to this fund and other acts of support thus far. Sadly, the seemingly indestructible, Dr. Bill has taken a turn for the worse and has been put on end-of-life hospice care. He is resting comfortably in his home with Wendy and Jasmine, with Billie joining them soon. It goes without saying that all the texts, phone calls, emails etc are so appreciated and fills the family with love and comfort, however, at this time their energy needs to be spent caring for and loving on their beloved husband and daddy. I am currently staying with the family for as long as they need me, to help and support them. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like me to pass on anything to the family, I can be reached at tandm521 (yahoo mail) and will provide my phone number upon request. Thank you again for all the love each and every one of you has for the Inman family, the girls will need all the love and support they can get in the coming weeks and months.

To know "Dr. Bill" is to love and respect him. He has paid it forward on many occasions in his lifetime by dropping what he is doing and sacrificing time with his family to help an animal (and their people) in need. Dr. Bill is fighting his hardest to rid his body of this disease because "he isn't finished and still has things to do". The financial burden that has been put on the Inman family during this battle has added more stress and worry to their daily lives when the focus needs to be on finding a treatment that will work. Please find it in your heart to help someone who has helped others for many years.

Diagnosis & Treatments:
Two days before Christmas this past year, Dr. Bill was told that the pain in his stomach for the last 8 months was not from a hiatal hernia, but in fact a football-sized cancerous tumor, Stage IV Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. In his typical comedic sarcasm, Bill replied, “Oh boy, I’ve got cancer for Christmas.” Needless to say, Christmas felt a bit different for the Inman family.

The whirlwind that followed included getting a port placed and endless labs, chemo sessions and scans. After 5 months of treatment, the results were not adequate. He was referred to specialists at Swedish Cancer Institute in Seattle and underwent procedures to get a CAR T-cell transplant. After several trips to Seattle, he found out his cells were unable to be propagated.

After this bad news, he was given hope as he qualified for a trial that would require a 30-day stay in Seattle. He and his wife, Wendy, packed up and Bill endured daily labs, tests, a blood transfusion, and 8 injections of bioengineered killer T-cells. He had an adverse reaction during the treatment and ended up in the ER followed by the ICU and the hospital. Upon finishing the trial, he seemed to have improved, as he could get around by the use of a walker some days, as opposed to being pushed in a chair. Unfortunately, the improvements were not enough to be able to continue with the trial so they were sent home.

After returning home, Bill felt defeated until he was told he qualified for a brand new treatment just approved by the FDA. The three-week wait for Medicare approval seemed to push Bill backward as he continued to get weaker and lose more weight (from 220 to 136 lbs). He is currently receiving this therapy which entails getting an injection each week. So far it seems to be successful. He and his family are feeling blessed and hopeful that this will finally be the treatment that will work.

Dr. Bill’s Story
Dr. Bill was awarded his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, Surgery and Dentistry from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1979. He is the inventor and originator of VOM (Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation) and Veterinary Low-Level Laser Therapy. He has taught more than 7,000 veterinarians and chiropractors and continues to provide support…even while in the ICU! His dedication to healing animals is applaudable.

Dr. Bill has always had a way with words and he has used this talent in his Facebook posts entitled “The Cancer Chronicles” and is currently up to Volume 65. Banjo Bill even makes a surprise appearance in one of them!

His creativity is also obvious in his awesome acting and singing abilities. He has been in 37 productions with several theatre companies and serves on the board of directors for a local community theatre. It goes without saying, that his “theatre family” is everything to him and has been such a pillar of support through this trying time.
