Help Dr. Annie Fund Her Book

Hello, my name is Dr. Annie Gharakhani. I'm a clinical psychologist and have over 10 years of experience working with children. I'm also a proud Armenian-American, and an avid reader. Ever since I was a little girl, reading was a passion of mine. Today, I often use books to help children understand big lessons that would be hard to understand otherwise.

 

I wanted to write this book, a book about a girl named Annie, so that children could learn about emotions, learn to identify emotions in themselves and others, and find ways to regulate those emotions. Children so often are taught to minimize their emotional expression. We forget that words we can identify so easily (happy, frustrated, scared, worried), can feel like a foreign language to a little one, because it is a foreign language. I also wanted a book about a girl like me, making her favorite food, which happens to be my favorite food as well, dolma!

 

I'm hoping to collect $5000 to jump start a series of books surrounding mental health issues and our littlest community members. The money will go directly to the cost of making this book, and the next book in the series. I'm hoping to have this book available on Amazon by Armenian Christmas, so I am hoping to be fully funded by the end of the year. My passion is to give back to the community in any way I can, and I hope to create affordable, helpful products that can provide learning, comfort, and growth to anyone who picks one up. 

Donators of $200 or more will be listed as contributors in the book
Donators of $100 or more will receive a signed copy of the book and have one donated on their behalf
Donators of $50 or more will receive a signed copy of the book
Donators of $20 or more will receive a copy of the book

Once printed, 10% of all proceeds will be donated to cityofsmile.org and frontlinetherapists.org, for a total of 20% to non profits near and dear to my heart.
