Hi everyone... I woke up on my birthday December 22nd to a phone call confirming that my favorite boy in the world has been diagnosed with cancer. If any of you know me well at all then you know how important Dozer is to me. This guy has been through thick and thin and with every up and down he has supported me more then anyone ever has. As you can imagine the thought of losing this little guy is just too much for me to bare and I need to save him as much as he's saved me.
I don't know how much this will ultimately cost so I figure $25K is a realistic guesstimate. I'm hoping we've caught it soon enough, but we have more testing and treatments that will need to be done. I've spent over $15K already on the diagnosis alone... but undoubtedly the treatments will be much more. I will do whatever it takes to me sure he sticks around a while!! If you guys could help Dozer and I out here I would be forever grateful. Anything above and beyond what's required to save him I promise to donate to any friends and family in need of financial help with their animals and/or donate it to a legitimate charity focused on pets in need.
Please let me share with you a little bit about him... he's a German Shepard, Boxer mix born April 27th 2007 whom I rescued when he was only 3 months. I refer to him as my autistic son and he knows me as mommy of course! He’s absolutely the smartest dog I’ve ever known and anyone who knows him will confirm this. He is very communicative with people and understands english very well. He tells you what he wants when he wants it leading you into certain areas of the house and then uses his paws and facial expressions to pinpoint his request. Being part boxer he uses his paws a lot! You cannot say D-I-R-T-Y or B-A-T-H without ruining his day. He knows how to give hugs and kisses and knows at least 30 or more commands, too many to list here. Dozer plays hide and seek with his toys… he let’s me cover his eyes while someone else hides a particular toy somewhere in the house and then he’ll sniff all over the place looking for it. We joke he’s not much of a hound dog because sometimes he’ll pass right by it, but eventually he figures it out! :). Whenever I return home from leaving the house I pull up and honk twice, this is his cue to come out onto the balcony and greet me. He’s also my registered Emotional Support Animal and trust me he's put that title to the test!! Besides being my all around go to guy to lean on he keeps me company whenever I’m home by myself.
I could go on and on but I’ve taken up enough of your time already. Please help me make sure he sticks around a while… can't let this guy go. Thank you everyone in advance.
