Help Dozer Recover: Support His Life-Saving Surgery and Care

This is our boy Dozer, we found him roughly 3 years ago wandering out of the woods in extremely poor condition. We have since brought him back to health and he is one of the sweetest and most affectionate dogs you will ever meet. On 10/29 we had to rush him to an emergency hospital when we learned he had a large internal growth. We have since found out that it is a very large abscess that seems to be from a gunshot wound he received prior to us finding him. The abscess covered over 50% of his liver, was pressuring his stomach, intestines and other organs. It had ruptured in the past few days and began leaking septic material. He had to have it surgically removed and have the skeptic fluid flushed from his organs as much as possible. We are now waiting tenuously for his recovery, hoping and praying, as he now has to fight the extreme infection and inflammation that was caused by the pressure of the abscess and septic fluids.

About us, we are Megan and Austin. We live in Texas with our other fur baby Raleigh. I recently lost my job as an engineer after 10 years due to a severe medical condition that makes it hard to accomplish much of anything or keep up with day to day tasks and have been fighting to get on disability for going on 2 years. In addition to this, I am type I diabetic. So between dwindling funds and constant medical expenses/testing that I have been undergoing, this procedure for Dozer was not something we were prepared for. This is devastating as the procedure is the only way to have a chance at saving his life.

We are setting the goal at $2,000 as this is the minimum cost of the procedure but we will not know for certain a total until we find out how long he has to stay in recovery at the hospital and what all medicines/fluids he will require. We are thankful beyond words for any help you can offer, any amount helps.
