Hi, my name is Felicity Mescher, and I’m raising funds for my dad, Douglas Mescher, who is currently battling stage 3 squamous cell carcinoma of the lung cancer. He also struggles with A-fib, nonischemic cardiomyopathy, COPD, ETC. He has also had a left pneumonectomy. He has 3 sons, 2 daughters, a brother, and a sister. He also has 2 granddaughters, 1 grandson and lots of nieces and nephews. This has been one of the hardest times our family has ever faced. My dad is a strong, loving, hardworking, passionate Christian man. Probably also one of the biggest Ohio State fans you will ever meet and probably one of the funniest people you will ever meet as well. He is my best friend, hero, and my biggest supporter. Douglas has always been there for everyone else no matter his circumstances. — now it’s our turn to be there for him.
This has been the hardest thing We’ve ever had to go through. Being told your loved one has cancer is scary. No one ever wants to hear those words. Unfortunately we had to hear them. We were in denial. We didn't want to believe it. Countless doctor visits, hospital stays, chemotherapy, days when my dad wants to give up. Hearing my dad tell me he would rather die than be in this much pain broke me, especially knowing there's nothing I can do other than love him, care for him, and reassure him that everything will be okay. I am so mentally drained and tired. I don't think anyone can fully understand how much my dad means to me, and how much I love him. Being strong for him is the hardest part. I want to cry, scream, and burn the world down everyday. I want to take his pain away but unfortunately I can't. If anyone else reading this is going through the same thing or previously has just know, I love you. You are going to get through this. We have to push our loved ones to fight this.
Over the past few weeks, his medical expenses have become overwhelming. Between doctor appointments, treatments, medications, and travel to appointments, the bills keep adding up faster than we can keep up. My dad has always been a person to help someone when he is able too. He is stubborn as a mule and a strong warrior. Please help my dad so he can focus on what’s most important — healing and fighting this disease.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward his medical bills, treatments, and essential living costs while he’s unable to work. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word — your support, prayers, and kindness mean more than words can express.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping my dad in his fight against cancer. ❤️
