Help Dougie Walk Again – Emergency TPLO Surgery Needed
This is Dougie, our sweet, joyful 6-year-old Rottweiler. We rescued him in February 2022 from PACT Animal Sanctuary, after he was sadly turned in by his previous owner.
From the moment we met him, we knew he was something special — goofy, full of energy, and so unbelievably loving. He instantly became part of our family, filling our home with excitement, tail wags, and big Rottie cuddles.

The First Injury
Last year, Dougie suffered his first TPLO tear — a painful, mobility-limiting injury that required expensive surgery. We did everything we could to cover it, but like many pet owners, we got caught out by the fine print in our insurance policy. They refused to pay, and we were left to manage the large unexpected cost ourselves.
At the time, the vet warned us:
“It’s highly likely the other leg will go within a year.”
We hoped it wouldn’t, but here we are — just over a year later — and Dougie’s second TPLO has now torn. He’s in pain, limping, and unable to play or walk properly.

Why We’re Asking for Help
We thought we were prepared this time. We upgraded our insurance policy to one that clearly stated it would cover future TPLO issues. But once again — the small print got us. They won’t cover it.
Now, while we’re still paying off the first surgery, we’re facing a second bill that we simply can’t manage alone.

Dougie Deserves a Second Chance
Dougie isn’t just a pet — he’s family.
He deserves to run again, to be free from pain, and to go back to being his playful, scatty self.
But without this surgery, his condition will only worsen. And we all know what the heartbreaking outcome could be if we can’t get him the help he needs in time.
⸻
How You Can Help
We’re asking for your kindness — whether it’s £1 or simply sharing this page — to help give Dougie the second chance he so desperately needs.
All donations will go directly toward Dougie’s surgery and aftercare. If we raise more than the goal, the remainder will be donated back to PACT Animal Sanctuary to help other dogs in need, just like Dougie.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, sharing, and supporting our beautiful boy.
