Help Dougie the Dog survive Cancer

Hi my name is Vikki and I am helping my friend Nikkie raise some funds to cover the fees for her beloved dog Dougie’s cancer treatment. Dougie was a rescue dog that came to Nikkie just over 2 years ago. He saved Nikkie in way no-one will understand, and he also helps her daughter, with things that teenagers deal with and cannot speak to anyone about. Dougie has that way of making everything right for the whole family, and her two sons love Dougie in much the same way as her daughter does, even though they are older and are much too cool to ever admit that!

Dougie himself was abused for 6 years before he came to Nikkie. I will not go into details because it is too distressing, so when Nikkie adopted him, he immediately felt loved. He knew the difference, and has settled in straight away. She helped him and he helped her. Unfortunately, about a week ago, Nikkie found a lump that Dougie had had on him for some time had changed. This lump has been there since she has had him, but the vet had always said it was ok. But it had now changed. It had become raised, bumpy and changed colour. She knew that this wasn't good news for Dougie. The vet took a biopsy (which has already cost in excess of £200), and the bad news was confirmed, Dougie has skin cancer, in not 1 but 2 places.

The cost for the operation to remove the cancer is £1076.38.

Now Dougie is insured, but as the lump was there when Nikkie got him, and took the insurance out, they will not cover the cost of any treatment. The operation is just the beginning as far as we know. They won't know what else needs doing until the operation is done. If more than the operation costs are raised and nothing else needs doing, then the extra money will be donated to the local rescue charity where Dougie came from, called Jerry Greens, which is local to Nikkie. We will keep everyone updated with Dougie's progress as often as we can. .
