Doug is our lively, fun, and kind puppy who has always brought so much joy to our family. He’s especially close to my baby sister, River, and was meant to grow up by her side—protecting her, loving her, and sharing all the adventures that childhood brings.

Recently, Doug had a terrible accident. While we were away, he got his feet stuck in wooden pallets, and in his struggle to get free, he broke both of his tibias. The only options we’ve been given are a costly surgery to heal him or amputation, and we can’t bear the thought of Doug losing his leg. He deserves the chance to run, play, and be the best friend River needs.

Watching Doug’s spirit fade immensely as he struggles with pain has been heartbreaking for our whole family. It’s not just Doug who’s affected—his best friend Phoenix, our other dog, has become extremely withdrawn and sad because she can’t play with him anymore because even her other playmate, our other dog, is deaf & blind. So our home, usually filled with laughter and energy, feels heavy as we watch our beloved dogs go through this.

My parents care for over ten birds, three dogs, and they support my siblings as well as granny. With so many responsibilities, it’s been incredibly difficult for them to cover this unexpected expense, even though they do everything they can for our animals and our family.

I’m making this GoFundMe to help my parents, Doug, and our whole family get through this difficult time.

We’re reaching out because we want Doug to have the surgery and recovery care he needs to get back to his happy, playful self. Our baby sister River would be eternally grateful for every single person who helps her best friend continue to grow up healthy by her side.
