Help Doug recover from his horrible accident.

Hi, my name is Richard, and I am fundraising for my brother Douglas Lamoy. On January 24, 2022 he was in a horrible truck accident on the road in Vermont. The box truck he was driving left the road, went down a large embankment and was stopped by a huge pine tree. Since the truck was badly wrecked, the rescue team needed to cut him from it. His leg was shattered, and he was in critical condition. The ambulance brought Doug to the hospital in Burlington, where he was put on a ventilator in the ICU. The team there worked on him for days trying to stabilize his condition. He was in such bad shape they needed to wait until the next day to perform the first operation to try and put the bones back together. They hoped to do another surgery a few days later to put a pin in another bone, but the doctor came down with covid and then a few days later when they found another surgeon, Doug’s temperature spiked. Finally, a couple of days later, they could do that second surgery.

Two weeks after the accident, Doug gave me a call. He was very weak but asked for my help in setting up this GoFundMe. He lost his only pair of glasses in the accident and has bad eyesight so that is the first thing he mentioned he needs. He will need many things to recover, which will take many months. He has been heating with wood but should use the oil burner to make it easier since he won’t be able to tend the fire. His old oil burner needs work on it and he will need fuel oil for it. We aren’t sure where he will get it, but he will need extensive physical therapy. Doug will likely even need new clothing since he was fed with a tube for a couple of weeks and lost a lot of weight.

Doug will need help to get some of these things immediately. Because his recovery will take months, the need will continue. Please consider donating what you can. Thank you.
