On February 27, 2019, my father, Doug Rasmussen, suffered a heart attack and was rushed to Nebraska Medicine - Bellevue by rescue squad.
He was taken into surgery to place a stint in his “widow maker” artery that had a 100% blockage. The surgery was successful, however, it was discovered that he has another 85% blockage in another artery.
Doug will be having double bypass surgery in May to remove the remaining blockage and repair the area. He will also be having a procedure to strengthen a heart valve that is currently leaking.
Doug attends cardiac rehab three days a week and must continue following his bypass, along with many other doctors appointments and the other medical care he will need. He will be on medication for the rest of his life.
Doug was out of work for the five weeks following his heart attack, which exhausted his sick and vacation time. We are told he will be out of work for a minimum of six weeks following his upcoming bypass, but it will take roughly three months for a full recovery.
Each doctor has shared how surprised they are at how well he is doing, but unfortunately that doesn't eliminate the need for the continued procedures and medical care.
The funds raised through this platform will be used towards lost wages, copays, deductibles, ongoing medical and medication needs, and other unexpected expenses.
We are forever grateful for the love and support we have been shown and are truly blessed Doug is still here with us. He is so selfless and is always putting others before himself. I hope we can help relieve some of the stress this has put on him and allow him to focus solely on his recovery.
Thank you for your help.
