Help Doug Prueter as he battles colorectal cancer
Donation protected
Laura here.
I FIND THIS POST DIFFICULT TO WRITE.
Based on the recent update, the family has requested an expanded donation amount.
While money is not their focus, the reality is bills are piling up
Financial help is VERY MUCH needed as Doug and family’s focus is to be with each other as much as possible!
Insurance will NOT cover home health supports. Colleen will be taking more time away from work to care for him.
Doug, Colleen and the boys will spend as much time as possible together.
PRAYERS are WELCOMED!!!
ANY DONATION IS is helpful!! THEIR FAMILY IS GRATEFUL FOR ALL OF OUR SUPPORT.
Thank you!

Since June 2020 Doug has been going through some pretty major health concerns. Multiple (and I do mean MULTIPLE) CT scans, MRI's, lab work, colonoscopies, etc. has been done. Dr's all along have been stumped. "You're special" (we already know this ), or "You're a unicorn" is what we got.
Finally after pushing since the get-go, we finally reached a Dr who stood behind us in getting answers and granted our wishes to be referred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Our first week at Mayo, Doug's Dr was able to identify a tumor growth on his small intestines. A week later surgery took place, and it was successfully removed. However, the Dr also found a tumor on the outside of his rectal wall which he was unable to remove.
After 4 long months (and only 2 weeks at Mayo), 4 hospital stays, and 1 surgery later, we FINALLY have a diagnosis. Not one we wanted, but nonetheless can move forward with a treatment plan.
Doug has Small Bowel Cancer AND Colorectal Cancer.
The Dr feels it’s treatable with chemo and as soon as Doug is healed from the surgery, he'll start. We'll be keeping his Dr's down at Mayo but can go through treatment in Ashland once they come up with a "recipe". Because it’s 2 different cell types, it'll be tougher to fight but NOT impossible.
Doug has a great attitude about it and is a FIGHTER! We HAVE to stay positive about it all and we have an UNBELIEVABLE support team of family and friends! We have quite the road ahead of us, but are taking one day at a time! Although the hurdles are high, we WILL get over them and this enemy WILL be behind us! There just is no other option than that! All our love and thanks for everyone's prayers, we NEED them more than ever! ❤ #prueterfamilyjourney
The Prueter Family is in need of financial help as not all expenses are covered. It’s also unclear how the chemo will impact his autoimmune system and with COVID-19, it’s unclear how much or if he’ll be able to work.
I know times are tough but if you can spare $5, $10…. whatever, it’ll help him and his family.
