Help Doug Lawson Heal After His Fall
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Sandy Fowler, I’m trying to raise some money for my brother, Doug Lawson’s medical bills after a fall he had in February. Sometime after his wife had gone to bed on February 9th, Doug was carrying a load up from his basement. He set it down on the steps leading into the kitchen and reached for the door and lost his balance, falling backwards all the way to his concrete basement floor where he hit his head, causing a brain bleed. His wife found him the next morning and called for an ambulance. Doug had 2 brain surgeries to clear up the brain bleed and was in ICU for several weeks, where he got pneumonia, was on a ventilator, had a tracheotomy, a feeding tube, and started his long recovery journey. He was in the ICU for 3 weeks, the step down ICU for 3 more weeks and then transferred to a rehab facility in Chicago for a month. He is finally home after 10 weeks, but the medical bills are now rolling in. His wife had to take time off work not only for his recovery, but also lost her mom during the first week of Doug’s hospital stay. She doesn’t have any PTO left, and needs to work to continue to pay for insurance and medical bills - so FMLA is not a great option. Doug still has in home healthcare visits from nurses, and therapists, and still needs tube feedings daily for nutrition. He will continue to need outpatient therapy to regain mobility on his right side, and needs someone with him 24/7 to help him walk, get to the bathroom, and other necessities. If you are able to give any amount to help out, our family would greatly appreciate it. If you are not in a position to give monetarily, please pass along this link and continue to pray for Doug’s full recovery. Thank you all so much!
