For the past 42 years Doug and Diana "Dee" Hinson have been happily married with 6 kids, 9 grandkids, numerous step grandkids, and they are soon to be great grandparents. They currently reside in Port Neches, TX. Everyone who has come across Doug and Dee in their life will tell you about the endless care, kindness, and generosity they show and how they are 2 of the most selfless people you will ever meet. They are hard working people who always put their kids and family first, and because of that they have always had financial burdens. We do not want them to stress over finances with neither of them being able to work. We ask all friends, family and strangers to assist in helping Doug and Dee with their financial burden this is placing on them. All funds will help them with bills, living arrangements, medical treatments, and medications. Below you will see the medical journeys of what Doug and Dee have experienced to date. At the time of writing this, they are both in the hospital, in the same room, inseparable. As true love is.
Dee's Story:
In October 2023, Dee presented to the ER with severe pain that had immobilized her. Shortly after admission and numerous testing, we found out Dee has late stage 4 breast cancer that has metastasized to almost every organ in her body and bones. This has also caused her numerous fractures in her spine, hips, shoulders, and elsewhere. Doctors state there is no cure for her stage of cancer, there are only treatments to attempt to stop the progression and manage her pain. Dee is on numerous cancer medications and periodic visits to cancer doctors. She heavily relied on her husband who was currently working for financial support.
Doug's Story:
Fast forward 4 months, January 2024. Doug was sent to the ER via ambulance with signs of a stroke. After numerous tests and procedures, it was found that he has infectious endocarditis involving the mitral valve and will need a replacement with open heart surgery. The infection also caused brain bleeds and infarcts (small strokes). On the scheduled date of his open heart surgery (2/13/24), a MRI of the brain showed that he had numerous more strokes during the duration of his hospital stay. He currently has over 200 areas in his brain that are bleeding and cannot undergo the surgery due to the high chance of it being fatal. The next step is for him to be placed in a long term care facility for the next 4 weeks with round the clock antibiotics to kill the infection. After 4 weeks, he will be re-evaluated and if the strokes have stopped, he will have heart surgery. Once his heart is healed, doctors will evaluate possible cancer masses in his spleen and kidneys. Doug now will be out of work indefinitely with no income, no insurance, and no way to support his him or his wife.
