Help Doug Wimer Kick Cancer’s Butt
Donation protected

Hey dear folks near and far, we need your help!!!
Doug Wimer (husband of Debby, father of Julia, stepfather of Dara Schulbaum, GranDoug of Nate Schulbaum, friend and helper of all, and Mr Take it Easy to MANY) has just been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called Bile Duct Cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma) that has metastasized to his liver and other sites (Stage IV). His doctor at Community Health Network has recommended chemo and considers surgery not an option because of how advanced the cancer is. Only 30% of people with this cancer respond to chemo. If Doug's cancer does not respond to chemo, he only has about 3-4 months to live. This is simply not a good enough answer for us. (Nate Schulbaum's response to the news: "But who will teach me everything?" Nate is pricing his toys to sell to help GranDoug.) We are not ready to lose him and he's not ready to go. This man has a lot of living left to do. But he feels pretty terrible now and we need to move quickly!

Doug is a working man, as most of you know, and a hardworking man at that. Retirement is not an option for him. He has not been able to do any work for months now. Losing their home of 40 years in this difficult time would be heartbreaking to Doug and Debby. This is one of the many reasons we need access to some funds.
If you know Doug personally, you know that he is an accomplished base player. Much like the base line in any song, Doug is the steady guiding presence that makes our lives work and feel good. He is a giver and a caretaker and this world still needs him. If you haven't had the chance to hear Doug's music, or his jokes, or receive his kind help- take our word for it: this world is better with him in it. We will travel far and wide to find someone who can offer us more treatment and more hope than what we are hearing right now. Our research suggests that MD Anderson in Texas, Cleveland Clinic, or Mayo Clinic will likely offer more options and more aggressive treatment.

Funds that we raise here could possibly make all the difference to Doug and his loved ones. We will use this money for 2nd, 3rd, 4th (as many as it takes!) treatment opinions as well as the travel expenses necessary to get those. We will use it to pay living expenses that he is not able to cover right now, and for supplemental therapies that are not covered at all by insurance. The supplements that we have him on right now to reduce symptoms and slow the cancer's growth cost close to $500/month.
Please help us make this happen! If you can only give $5, know that we are grateful for this and that every penny helps keep Doug with us longer.
And please share this with all your people---it takes a village.
Gratefully,
Mr. Take It Easy's Crew
