Help Dotty with medical treatment

Donation protected
Hey Everyone,

My dear fried Matt just found out that his dog Dotty has an infection that is causing her kidney levels to raise and to potentially fail if she does not receive proper treatment. We all know that our fur babies are members of our family and that we will do anything in our power to keep them safe and healthy, unfortunately sometimes things happen that are out of our control and come at a financially, detrimental time. I am asking that you please find it in your heart to read his story below and if possible, donate to help Dotty receive the medical treatment she needs. Anything helps, and if you are not in a position to donate, please share!

Thank you!

Niki G.

Matt and Dotty's Story:

Hi, my name is Matt and I am Dotty's dad. Dotty came into my life in 2019 while I was driving home late one night from work. I was heading north on interstate 15 and took the exit where my house was in Fallbrook. I remember that day not being the greatest day, and I also remember saying to myself “ today couldnt get any worse, right?” As I take the left hand turn going towards my house a black figure darts in front of my car forcing me to swerve into the emergency lane. I stopped my car immediately and opened the door to see what ran in front of my car. I'm standing outside observing the busy traffic jam this little black figure had caused and not a second later a little black dog jumps in the front seat of my car and takes a back seat.

A woman across the bridge from me had seen what had just happened and offered to take the dog. I thought about it for no more than a second and decided that I would take her home with me. I waved to the woman across the road and let her know I was taking Dotty. I get in my car and head home. I remember driving away and not hearing a thing, I took a look in my rearview mirror and saw a pair of glassy brown eyes staring right back at me in silence. This was the beginning of Dotty’s and I's adventures.

When I got home, she was absolutely filthy and looked like she hadn't seen an ounce of water in over a year. I fed her some food and she instantly devoured all of it. I laid a blanket down for her and we just stared at each other for the next twenty minutes. I kept telling myself “wow I have a dog now” After taking dotty to the vet and getting her checked out it was plain and simple that Dotty had been neglected for sometime. I decided that whoever had dotty before me was not fit to take care of her, and I decided to keep her.

Dotty at first sight is a sweet outgoing dog who loves anyone who she comes in contact with, but Dotty wasn’t an easy fix. Without knowing any of her previous history I started from the ground up for treating her. We have been through leg surgerys, botched spay surgery, and rattlesnake bits. She has seen it all. Dotty is a tough dog but her past life has come at a cost. In the past week Dotty has come down with a kidney infection that the doctors are stumped on. She woke up Friday morning shivering uncontrollably and I immediately took her to the vet. The Vet told me she had a fever of 104 and needed to be held overnight and given fluids. I was able to take her home that night due to her stabilizing. Dotty's fever continued through the weekend and she had to go back to the vet the following Monday. She stabilized that day and I was able to take her home that evening. Dotty's condition hasn't gotten better over the past week and I had to bring her in again. This time her kidney levels were elevated and the doctor suggested more tests and another visit this monday to check her kidneys levels and continue her on fluids.. At this point I’ve had to put everything on credit and after our on and off visits this week I am already over 4k.

Dotty has changed my life. For as hard and an uphill battle Dotty has been at times, she has got me through some of the toughest times in my life. I think we are neck and neck with the weight we have carried for each other the past 2 years. The treatment is still unknown and for everything we have been through I am not about to give up.
