Help Dot Fight Dementia
Donation protected
We are the Mozulay’s and we’re looking for donations to help our mom Dot battle a rare and cruel disease called Frontotemporal Dementia. FTD accounts for about 10% of all dementia cases and is found in people who are mostly in their 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s. Dot is only 63. The disease affects the communication part of the brain, and in Dot’s case, her long- and short-term memory, as well as daily functioning.
Dot was first diagnosed and hospitalized in May, and she currently does not have health insurance. We are working on getting her into a care facility, but they cost $8,000 per month on average. We’re also working on getting her Medicaid (state insurance), but this process takes months and her bills continue to stack. It has become very difficult for the family to keep up with these bills while caring for her on a daily basis. Your donation would contribute towards those bills, food, toiletries and any future payments needed for a care facility.
Many of us have known Dot for decades, while others only for a few short months. If you knew her at all, you’d know that she would deeply appreciate any and all donations. One way or another, the disease affects the entire family and Dot doesn’t have many good days. But in the rare moments when she smiles from remembering the lyrics of a song or recalling a special time in her life, it makes being by her side worth it. We thank you sincerely in advance and hope that our mom is as comfortable and happy as possible while she deals with this horrible illness. Thank you everyone!
