Hello! My name is Dory Morgan. I am from DuBois, Pennsylvania, and am currently studying Early Childhood Education and Special Education K-12 at Slippery Rock University. I have recently been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by Professor Sararose Lynch and the "Steel City Mission Group" to go on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Alongside fellow community members, college students, professors, retirees, and laborers with a wide range of backgrounds and religious affiliations, we will spend a week serving the people with the goal of improving the physical, spiritual, and environmental health in the Dominican Republic. As a team, we will provide basic medical care, make improvements and necessary repairs to buildings, and provide programs and activities to children, teaching them about the love and kindness of God, among numerous other things, all for the people.
For anyone who knows me personally, they know a week away, especially in a foreign country, is not easy. But, with the support from my peers and family, I have decided to adopt a "Just Go" mindset and grasp this opportunity in hopes to not only help improve the lives of so many in the Dominican Republic but also explore forming a stronger relationship with God. The total cost of travel, housing, food, and necessities is around $2,000, and I am reaching out to you as family, friends, community members, or even strangers to make this trip a reality.
