Help Dorothy's Heart: A Lifesaving Surgery
Donation protected
My name is Amanda. Since I was a child animals have always been my passion. At 15 years old I started working in veterinary medicine. And as all my friends can attest to, dogs are my life.
I have started this fundraiser for our dog Dorothy. Dorothy is 6 months old. At 6 weeks she was diagnosed with a grade 3 heart murmur. At 3 months we went to see a cardiologist and were told Dorothys heart murmur was now a grade 4 and she has what is called, pulmonic stenosis. The valve that moves the blood to her lungs is significantly narrowed. A common problem with this breed of dogs. To fix her she needs a stent put in to open that narrow valve. Dorothy was born with this defect. Without it her life will be significantly shortened. Her heart will fail from working so hard and she will die.
Dorothy had to live to 6 months to even be considered for this surgery as she had to be big enough to tolerate a stent being put in. Dorothy turned 6 months May 5th.
Today Dorothy went to Tufts for her 6 month cardiology check up. Good news is she has not worsened. They believe surgery will significantly improve and lengthen her life. However heart surgery comes with a hefty price tag. The estimate for this procedure is $7-9k. Surgery is currently scheduled for June 11th.
So I have come to all of you. If you’re a French bulldog lover, or animal lover of any kind I’m sure you can understand just how important this little girl is to us. We can’t imagine life without her little antics. If you’re able to help in any way we would be so very grateful. ❤️❤️
