My name is Ryn and I am fundraising for Dorothy Register who is a dear friend of mine. Dorothy is in fact a dear friend of many. She is known by our friend group as the most giving and selfless among us, with a heart that is both unfathomably large and consistently worn due to circumstantial reasons. Dorothy has been in and out of homelessness since her senior year of high school in 2016. She has held multiple jobs at a time to pay her own way through both high school and college. In that time, Dorothy suffered from racist and classist bullying at our high school and financial abuse in college. If there were ever a paragon of the "bad things happen to good people" idiom, it would be Dorothy.

Dorothy has simultaneously been battling health issues as well. Since 2020, she has had eight hospitalizations for the following reasons: fainting episodes, Stress Urinary Incontinence, endometriosis, PCOS, depression and anxiety and obstructive sleep apnea. Stress is an exacerbator of each of these listed health issues, and there are few experiences in the United States more stressful than houselessness. There is no amount of hard work Dorothy could do to dynamically relieve her of the pressures she is facing. In fact, it would do her good to work even less than she is now. What Dorothy needs is rest and support. She is caught up in a cyclical phenomenon that is not her fault, and should not be her burden alone. My friends and I would like to see Dorothy happy and healthy, finally. We need money for apartment applications, first month's rent and medical bills. Thanks for reading!
