Help Dorothy get Surgery

I'm Dorothy's brother, and Dorothy needs surgery. This is the message they asked me to pass along:

 

In 2019 my health started deteriorating. Unfortunately, the pandemic forced me out of work, and I lost my health insurance. After getting put on a medication for something I had previously been misdiagnosed with, my teeth started deteriorating rapidly in December, resulting in several broken teeth and an infection in my jaw bone. After four weeks of non-stop calls to a variety of doctors trying to get the surgery I need to fix my mouth, it became apparent that there was no way I'd be able to get it done in Florida.

 

I had been planning on moving back to Seattle as soon as possible back in October of last year, but I was waiting to finish restoring a couple of cars to be able to pay for it. However, that's around the time that my health began to take a nosedive, and I was no longer able to work or even stand for much of any length of time. Without being able to work at all, everything just fell apart and went sideways.

 

Now, things have gotten to the point where I need real medical attention as soon as possible. Unfortunately, as an uninsured, unemployed person in Florida who falls into the Medicare gap, I am simply unable to get medical care here and need to move to Seattle as soon as possible to get enrolled in accessible healthcare.

 

I'm reaching out to the communities I'm part of for help because I'm out of options and out of time. Originally, I was going to take out an emergency short-term loan with I shit you not 70% interest, but people who care about me urged me to try a GoFundMe instead. This money will help me get to Seattle, get enrolled in healthcare, and afford to buy groceries while I recover from surgery.

 

My expenses shouldn't be too much since I will be living out of my car with my two dogs, so I don't have to worry about rent until I can start working again. The past few months have been some of the darkest times of my life. There's been a few days I really didn't think I'd make it through. I'm looking forward to being able to get care for the conditions I've been struggling with my entire life and having a starting point to build something new with a solid foundation.
