Help Dorian Cut His Tits Off

Donation protected
My name is Jay and I am starting this fundraiser to help my friend Dorian get top surgery (a mastectomy).

Dorian has been one of my closest friends for around 7 years now. I have never met a more generous, intelligent and kind-hearted man. He's someone who is so open-minded and compassionate, trying to see the good in everyone.

However, Dorian has an affliction: he has two large growths on his chest (tits) and he wants to get them off and I'd like to help him as they're preventing from living his life as a man.

Why are we fundraising?

As long as I have known Dorian, he has always talked about getting top surgery. It's something he's wanted for many years but never been able to afford or get any tangible support from others for. Dorian has been dealing with the dysphoria of his chest for a long time. He hates feeling as though he cannot openly be himself, to express his gender through his clothing because they're always in the way. And he really, really hates binders.

And in all the time I've known Dorian, he's always been far more eager to help other people before helping himself or letting others help him. He's always going above and beyond for everyone in his life and even strangers he's just met. Dorian always tries to make everyone feel important and special, always tries to help people through their trauma and emotional struggles. He has an astounding capacity for emotional labour. He is selfless and self-sacrificing, always more concerned for others than himself. Which is why (with his permission) I am putting up this fundraiser, because he feels he doesn't deserve it. He is wrong of course, he does deserve it.

Who is Dorian?

Dorian is an animal lover, an academic, an artist and an activist; all things he excels at. I've seen Dorian fight for everyone, for workers, for women, for Kurds, for Palestinians as well as his fellows in the LGBTQ+ Community. Dorian has been an active and able organiser as long as I've known them, always ready to take the lead where others have balked, always doing three times the work of anyone else.

His Transmuted project has been an inspiration. Practically a one man operation, he's independently publishing one of the few transgender periodicals in the world, helping share the work of trans artists, poets, writers and scholars. Through this project he has held a number of events showcasing both transgender creativity and transgender intellect. He has been elevating trans voices and helping show the world the ingenuity of the trans community.

Dorian is an amazing artist, really capturing some very raw and powerful emotions in their art. They have an eclectic style and experiment with multiple mediums. Much of it is featured as part of Transmuted. You can view more of his art here.

What the money will be used for

Due to the UK government's growing hostility towards trans people, as well as its general hostility towards working class people, it is becoming harder and harder to get gender affirming surgery through the state-sponsored NHS. As such, Dorian will need to access private healthcare which can be quite expensive.

The money will pay for two sessions with a psychiatrist who can will confirm Dorian is trans, for the sake of the bureaucratic powers that be, the initial consultation with the surgeon and the surgery itself. A costly process all in all but a process that will help Dorian live a happier, more comfortable life.

Update: October 2024

Dorian recently published this video exploring his experiences as a trans man, please give it a watch.
