PLEASE SHARE FAR AND WIDE
We are Doresa's village and her Adventure Center family. When we heard about her cancer diagnosis, we went into action and are rallying to support her. We know that her village extends way beyond us. Everyone who knows Doresa knows that she would be the first to help them if they needed it. We anticipate that she will need everyone's emotional and financial support for at least 6 months.
Today is day 1!
Day one of what you ask?
I was diagnosed on February 21st with rectal cancer. Things have been happening fast since then. Lots of appointments, tests, bloodwork, images, and learning the lay of the hospitals cancer treatment area.
I’ve have a 3-Stage treatment plan and today was first day of kicking cancers a**!
First stage is radiation and chemo pills, Monday-Friday, for about 6 weeks. A 3 week pause to let the radiation finish working happens before my second stage starts.
Second stage is strictly chemo. It’ll be one round of chemo administered every 2 weeks but it’ll be delivered through my port, slowly & continuously, over 2 days. But I’ll get to wear it home and not have to stay at the hospital for those 2 days.
The third stage is surgery. But! We’re hoping that the first and second round will remove the cancer and I won’t need to have a surgery! But if I do, then I’ll have a 6 week recovery following that.
My cancer is stage 3b out of 4 stages. Which sounds bad, and it can be, but the cancer is nowhere else in my body and the doctors are all very optimistic that my cancer is curable.
I am currently off work now and am staying at my folks through the week. I’ll go to Jason’s on the weekends.
I am so grateful for the love and support that has come from my AC family. I definitely couldn’t do this without them!
Although this *type* of cancer did throw me for a loop, I’ve been expecting this to happen, although I thought it would be breast cancer as that's been my family's battle. My family has had a long line of warriors and I will draw my strength from them but, I will also remain optimistic and rely on my faith that HE has a plan for me.
I’m planning on updating my progress on my Facebook page as I think this is the best way to keep everyone updated.
I’m open to any questions and am always open to prayers, positive thoughts, love, and well wishes.
For those who already know about my diagnosis, thank you for your tremendous amount of love and support. I feel it and am grateful for each one of you!
Until next time, love ya alls!
