Hello, everyone:
It is with broken hearts that we share the update that Doran McGee lost his battle with cancer on January 15, just days after his daughter's 11th birthday.
Sadly, the focus of this campaign has shifted to funding the costs associated with funeral and burial services—which are quite expensive—in addition to helping pay for Doran's accumulated medical expenses and bills, as well as helping to support his wife Marina and their two children.
As a talented but struggling visual artist, Doran did not have any insurance that would fund funeral and burial costs, and the money that was initially raised has largely been depleted on his medical care and other expenses during his illness.
We are grateful and want to thank everyone for your messages, prayers and support—donations have come in not only from friends and family, but also from strangers, fueled out of love and a desire to support his valiant effort to survive. Thank you so much—it is a difficult and expensive road ahead, and your loving energy and much-appreciated—and still much-needed— donations help to lift us and ease some of the stress in this time of overwhelming grief.
We would also be so grateful if you can take a moment to share this fundraiser with your friends and family as we try to make life a little less difficult for Marina and the kids while they navigate this new normal without the love and support of their husband and dad.
We will update you when plans are finalized for a funeral/memorial service, which will probably take place within the next few weeks.

Hi! My name is Doran. I'm happily married to my spouse Marina, and I'm the father of our two amazing kids, Cierra (10) and Eden (8).
Over the past few years, I have not been feeling great physically. I was having frequent fatigue and I couldn't figure out why. I finally went to the emergency room because I started having chest pain. I was in for a big surprise.
On June 23rd, it was determined that I have pancreatic cancer, which has spread to my lungs and liver.
Update, On July 20th I was officially diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. In the coming days and weeks, my wife and I will be seeking advice from multiple oncologists to see which is the best treatment for me. We will be looking into new clinical tests and therapies that will have the best results for my situation.
I'm in a lot of pain and have sleepless nights, which has prevented me from working and properly caring for my family.
I'm raising funds to pay for our increasing bills and other medical expenses that will incur over the next few months or longer. Luckily, I have Medi-Cal to cover some of the costs but I'm also seeking help from alternative therapies that can help me heal and deal with the pains. It's critical in these next few months to treat my cancer as vigorously as possible and focus 100% on beating it and surviving. With your support, I can keep up with our bills and concentrate on healing.
Asking for help from family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers is one of the hardest things for me to do. I’d rather suffer alone, but I have a wonderful family that depends on me for certain things. It breaks my heart that I might not be around to love my kids, protect them and guide them as they become adults. The grief of possibly not being around for my family is overwhelming and I am determined to do everything I can to prevent it.
