Hi there,

My name is Donnie Hawkins and I am a Junior Vocal Performance at the Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia.

Throughout my time at Shenandoah, I was able to gain extremely wonderful opportunities inside and outside of the conservatory. Shenandoah University has shaped me into a well-rounded, versatile, and talented musician over the last two years.

As a rising junior, I was selected from a competitive field of applications to study abroad for one week in Warsaw & Gdańsk, Poland. This week will combine historical exploration, cultural immersion, and masterclasses to provide the adventure of a lifetime to connect with one of the greatest composers in music history. In addition to seeing many attractions and landmarks, I will also take part in masterclasses with faculty at one of Poland's leading music institutions, the Gdańsk Academy of Music.

With this great experience comes a great financial burden on our family. Since this trip counts as a Global Experiential Learning trip, it is not a free for the selected application. In addition, we do not receive any financial aid or grants from the institution to travel. All proceeds will go towards paying for the GEL trip, however, if I exceed my goal the extra money will go towards my college tuition. Thank you so much for your support!
