My name is Erin from Marble, CO and I am setting up this fund to help my dad and best friend, Donnie Doubleday, recover from the Marshall Fire that hit his home in Superior, CO. Yesterday my father was at work while he received a call to evacuate, thankfully keeping him out of any harms way during the fire and evacuation. This however prevented him from grabbing important documents and personal mementos from his home. He left home with his truck and the clothing on his back.
Today my father tried to get into his neighborhood and see if his home still stood. Unfortunately he received confirmation via news video that clearly showed his home and carpentry/motorcycle shop were completely gone. He is fortunate to have good friends to stay with temporarily in Denver and help him navigate this event and loss.
If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting my dad and being friends you will know he is a man of very few but incredibly cherished possessions. He won’t be able to replace the beautiful wood furniture he made a decade ago, the polaroid photos of my childhood, the rock collection from his backcountry adventures, or the lifetime worth of tools he’s collected for his job and career. Instead he will start over with the basics to get back on his feet.
I am most grateful that my dad is safe and with us. He has a new generation he needs to share his glass-half-full joy with and we have many more memories to make together. Any contribution you make will go directly towards replacing his home necessities, his tools for work and go also towards housing. I am forever grateful for you helping in his hardship recovery, I know everyone will band together and help the best guy we all know!
