Help Donna's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
For the past 6 years, Donna Glick has joined her family on their annual spring break trip, to spend time with her three granddaughters. This is a joyful trip she looks forward to every year. This year’s trip began like many others with several trips down water slides, lazy days at the beach, and beautiful Hawaiian sunsets. But on the final day, while Donna was playing in the waves with her granddaughters—something she had done every day of the trip—a rogue wave struck and knocked her to the ground, resulting in a serious spinal cord injury.
Donna was rushed to Maui Memorial Hospital, where she underwent emergency decompression surgery to reduce the swelling around her spine. The good news is that her spinal cord remains intact. The hard truth is that Donna is currently paralyzed from the chest down.
There are no acute rehabilitation facilities on Maui, so she must be medevacked to her hometown of Houston, Texas, where she can be surrounded by family and begin the intensive care and inpatient physical therapy that give her the best chance at recovery.
Unfortunately, air medical transport is not covered by insurance. While the family is using their own resources to cover as much of the cost as possible, as you can imagine, the expenses are substantial. The funds raised will be used to help cover the cost of this transportation and her recovery.
Donna is an incredibly strong woman—and she draws so much of that strength from her community. She is deeply grateful to each of you for being part of that.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference to Donna, and her daughter-in-law, Toni Brock is raising money on her behalf.
Whether you’re able to donate, share this page, or simply send your love and well wishes—we are truly grateful.
