I am embarrassed to be asking for help, but I have been struggling to keep my home. I am living in the house my father built and grew up in. The house isn't much, but there are a lot of memories here. After retiring and living on a fixed income, I needed to take out a HELOC to make essential repairs. Unfortunately, the contractor I hired did a terrible job, took a significant amount of money, $26000, leaving me with the burden of paying for the loan and not getting what I paid him for. He quit before finishing even a quarter of the work. This left me with two major payments—my mortgage and the HELOC loan—and the bank has been anything but helpful with working out a payment plan to fit my budget even though they sent me letters almost daily saying 'call us we can help'. They sent letters offering assistance, but when I called, all they said was to bring the loan current. I tried applying for a grant through PAHAF, but it was either closed or only covered my regular mortgage, not the HELOC. The bank proceeded to foreclose, and I had to file for bankruptcy. My lawyer advised me to pay on the HELOC, but the bank refused to accept payments due to the bankruptcy. Since February 2025, the bank has refused to accept my payments, and now they want to drop the stay due to non-payment, even though the amount they are seeking has been accumulating because they would not take my payments. They gave me till April 24, 2026 to pay the $7000. Court date is set for May 12th, 2026, which they are not giving me any options and short notice to come up with this amount. I am on a fixed income. If I lose my home, I will become homeless.

The funds raised will help stop the foreclosure process and allow me to stay in my home. I am turning 70 in May and, due to health, (coronary) and physical disabilities, cannot work. This situation has been incredibly stressful, and I am doing everything I can to find solutions. I would be very grateful for any support I can get to help. I am also looking into starting a program to help others in similar situations, as the cost of living is ridiculously high and homelessness is rising. Your kindness and generosity would mean the world to me, and I thank you for considering my story. if you cannot donate, please share my fundraiser. Thank you everyone for your support.
