On September 29, I woke up in severe pain and could barely stand. After seeing a doctor and filing for short-term disability, I still haven’t received any payments. Things got even harder after I fell in the shower, breaking a rib and bruising my side. Since then, I’ve been to the ER and had several follow-up appointments, but my disability paperwork is still pending, leaving me with no income..

Now, I’m facing foreclosure on my home. My electricity and water have been cut off, and I can’t afford my internet, medication, or even food for myself and my family. The bills keep piling up—my mortgage is overdue, my utility bills are unpaid, and I have several medical bills and prescriptions waiting for me at the pharmacy. I even have two doctor’s appointments this Thursday, but I can’t afford the co-pays to go. I’ve always been independent and never thought I’d have to ask for help, but right now, I can’t do this alone.
