Please help Donna back on her feet Spinal Injury

On Monday, 14 November 2022, my beautiful mother-in-law, Donna Waring, was in a horrific car accident directly outside our Tarzali business, Australian Platypus Park Smokehouse Cafe. Donna was on her way to visit her daughter, Jade, at the café and as she was turning off the main highway into our business driveway, a large 4WD doing 100km/hr smashed into the back of her little hatchback. As you can imagine, there wasn't much left of Donna's car and Donna was severely injured.

Donna was flown to the Townsville Hospital and put into ICU. The doctors have advised that Donna has multiple internal injuries including a broken back, 14 fractured ribs, punctures in both lungs, just to name a few.

Donna has now undergone two major operations (one on her heart, another on her spine) and has more to come. These severe injuries will drastically change Donna's life forever. Seeing our loved one in so much pain is breaking our hearts, but Donna is being so strong and somehow managing to keep a smile on her face.

Donna and her family are from the Atherton Tablelands and have lived in this community for over 20 years. Donna's daughter, Jade, was one of the first responders to the scene and immediately drove to Townsville to be by her mother's side and to give her as much love and support as she possibly can throughout this terrible time.

We kindly ask if you can help our family during this heartbreaking time. No matter how little or how much, every donation will be greatly appreciated. Donations will go towards:

* The cost of accommodation and fuel to enable Donna's loved ones to remain supporting her in Townsville without the additional stress of finances

* Helping us buy Donna all the necessary equipment she will need to have a comfortable recovery and undergo extensive rehabilitation when she is allowed to return home to the Atherton Tablelands

* Ongoing medical expenses

* Loss of income as we've had to close our Cafe as the business is run by myself, Jade and Donna
