I am Michael Layne. My wife is Donna Layne. In January of this year (2025), she was unable to keep anything, food or water, down, and after a couple of days struggling with this, I told her I was taking her to the hospital to get checked out. After some tests, it was decided to admit her for further observation. It was discovered that she had a tumor in her stomach, and after further tests, she was diagnosed with stomach cancer!

This diagnosis came as a huge shock to us, but we also knew our faith would carry us through. After consultation with the surgeon, we felt very positive about a wonderful outcome. The surgeon removed the tumor and the lower half of her stomach after she had 3 chemo treatments. Then, after surgery, there were three more chemo treatments.

We are very thankful and appreciative to Decatur County Memorial Hospital and St. Francis Hospital for the great care they have given to Donna.

Donna is a 25-year employee of Walmart, and during this time, she has been on short-term medical leave since January 2025. However, the short-term disability payments have run out, and our expenses continue. Mortgage, utilities, food, and other essential bills need to be paid. We are thankful for any assistance.
