For those who know my amazing sister-in-law, Donna (Packett) Humanic, you understand what a remarkable friend she is. With her fun-loving, positive attitude, she is always ready to lend a hand with her generous spirit and compassionate heart. She has been there for so many in their times of need, and now it’s our turn to support her.
In January 2026, Donna and her husband (my brother) Brian Humanic, received heart-wrenching news that she had Stage 2 HER2 breast cancer. Donna chose to undergo an immediate mastectomy, only to discover that the cancer tumor was larger than initially thought and had spread to one of her lymph nodes. This diagnosis meant her treatment plan had to shift to a more aggressive approach, including chemotherapy, infusions, radiation, and reconstruction later this year. While her prognosis is ultimately positive, this journey will undoubtedly be a difficult one for both Donna and Brian—emotionally, physically, and financially. As she recovers from surgery, Donna is able to access some short-term disability; however, as a new hire, her options are limited. She is hopeful about returning to work, but with treatment starting mid-April, that timeline remains uncertain. The mounting medical bills are already overwhelming, and unfortunately, they do not qualify for financial aid.
Many kind-hearted individuals, including their friends from the Moose Lodge 501 in Middletown, OH, have expressed a desire to help. So, today I am reaching out to this wonderful community with the hope of raising funds to assist with Donna’s medical expenses. Sadly, not all of her expenses are covered by insurance and treatment for cancer is very costly.
WHAT IS NEEDED
GOFUNDME MONETARY DONATIONS: will go directly to cover medical-related expenses including treatment needs, copays, deductibles, and any unforeseen costs associated with Donna’s recovery.
GIFT CARDS: (can be given in person) These will help pay for her many prescriptions, medical items, diet essentials, and gas for the many doctor's visits. (Kroger, Meijer & VISA cards are appreciated)
Your generous donation, no matter the amount, will play a crucial role in providing both Donna and Brian with the financial support they desperately need during this challenging time. Your kindness, unwavering support, and heartfelt prayers mean the world to them.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and compassion during this difficult time.
Sincerely, Mary Jo (Humanic) Burgdorf
