Support for Donna’s kids after the loss of their Mom.

Dear Family, friends and supporters,

My sister Donna was diagnosed with a rare head/neck cancer the day before Mother’s Day 2024.

Donna is known to many as the gentlest, kindest soul who would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Most importantly, she is a loving mother to her two children. Since the passing of my brother-in-law in 2014, Donna, an amazing hair colourist; has been a single mother and the sole provider for her family. With my niece in post-secondary education and my nephew taking on the caregiver role, they have no other source of income.

Donna’s medical team has recommended targeted radiation treatment and chemotherapy. This requires her to travel to the hospital daily and stay nearby, which will be an out-of-pocket expense.

As a self-employed individual without private benefits, Donna does not have additional financial support for lost income, medication costs, and other necessary expenses, which quickly become a significant financial burden. We are asking for help to cover essential living expenses during her treatment, including rent, utilities, and groceries. Any additional funds will go towards medication costs and non-OHIP covered procedures.

For those who know Donna, fundraising is not something she would usually consider. However, given the immense challenges she faces, we are reaching out for support.

Your donations will help alleviate the financial strain of cancer treatment and travel costs, allowing Donna to focus on her health and recovery. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in her journey to overcome this disease.
