I'm a friend to Donna, and we have been friends since elementary school.
Her parents were my second set of parents. We experienced a lot as teenagers, but going into our adult lives, we went different ways. Eventually, we reconnected and have maintained our friendship ever since.
The last three years have been horrible for Donna. She lost her oldest son, Beau, 28 years old, father of an 8-year-old girl. He was killed in a head-on collision with a semi-truck. She was at work when the accident happened, and due to regulations, she did not have a phone so she could be contacted and therefore didn't hear of his death till later in the evening.
The last few months, she was given a cancer diagnosis shortly before losing her full-time job working as a therapist for the military. She was to start a new job with the Nebraska prison in Lincoln, but with the cancer diagnosis everything was put on hold which left her with no insurance.
A few days ago, while Donna was getting treatment the home she and her children lived in caught on fire, killing her husband, Doug. Short term the Red Cross is helping with a place to stay.
Any financial help will be greatly appreciated.
