My name is Donna Pritchett. I am a 59 year old disabled woman who is taking care of my 99 year old grandmother. There is nobody left in my family to help me and my money is getting very low. I predict my grandmother and I will be facing eviction in July of this year. I can't even imagine what I'm going to do if this happens. I am very frightened.
We are on several wait lists for affordable retirement apartments but due to various computer errors and the covid pandemic we have been waiting almost five years now and I am not confident we will be chosen before we face eviction. Meanwhile the rent in our current place has ballooned from $2800.00 to $3600.00 per month with water and sewer charges.
My grandmother, Marian Curtis, is the widow of a WWII Veteran who was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor Massacre. The rest of his life was spent serving others on the Boston Fire Department while Marian supported him in everything he did from Shriners to Masons. He passed away in 1998 and before he passed I promised him I would take care of his wife. Who knew I would later become disabled myself? Regardless, I am still trying to honor that promise. I would like to raise $20,000.00 for rent until an affordable retirement apartment becomes available. Any help you could give me would be deeply appreciated.
