Donna "Akashi" Needs Life Saving Cancer Surgery

Donna (Akashi) has two Huge LypoSarcomas in her abdomen and needs life saving cancer surgery. To battle these tumors she needs financial assistance to cover the costs of surgery and 3-6 weeks of rehabilitation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City.
Akashi is a retired special education teacher from northern New Mexico who has lived a life devoted to the care of others. She has friends around the world and is now asking for your help.

She has been battling cancer for 12 years. In that time the cancer decided to metastasize from just chronic lymphatic leukemia, to small lymphatic leukemia, then lymphoma and now to the two huge liposarcomas in her abdomen.
So hey, her body likes change! She has now been the size of a 9 month pregnant woman for over 3 years...probably the longest gestation period in history! She is now at the place where she either gets these liposarcomas out of her body or she faces imminent death. They weigh about 15 pounds, and are so large that they are pressing on her internal organs, making eating and drinking an ever increasing challenge and periodically shutting down her body almost in its entirety.
Donna has been on many chemo therapies and clinical trials and currently lives on oral chemo with IVIG infusions every 3 weeks. Her health goes up and down, which necessitates frequent hospital stays. The liposarcomas are consuming most of the nutrients in her body thus her immune system is highly depleted. Somehow Donna has fought this battle with every ounce of determination, spirit and willpower she can
muster. Anyone that knows Donna can attest she is a natural giver with a heart of gold who embraces each moment with vigor. She has an incredibly positive outlook and is always ready to help and be there for others. Now is the time she needs to receive back!

It is an extremely risky operation but is absolutely necessary regardless of the odds for success. After two canceled attempts at surgery, she was blessed to be able to get an appointment at Sloan Kettering hospital in New York city. Donna will need to be there for at least 6 weeks which is extremely costly, especially since it is located in Manhattan. Time is of the essence since the procedure begins January 5th and we are hoping and praying to help with the exorbitant medical bills and cost of recuperation in New York which will last at least through the end of February.

Let’s show Donna how much we love her and together we can help ease the financial stress that comes along with treatment and recovery.

Some words from Donna/Akashi:
"If you feel in your heart to help I would greatly appreciate anything you can contribute. You might just be saving my life."
