Help Donivan Myers Overcome Cancer

Hi, I'm reaching out on behalf of my dad, Donivan Myers. Many of you know him as a motorcycle enthusiast, musician, artist, or maybe a builder. At 66, with his long white beard and an affinity for the guitar, my kids know him as PawPaw, or “ZZ Pop.” Of all his many talents, you might be surprised to learn that one of his greatest is that of a grandad. Watching him interact with his grandkids and seeing the joy they bring one another has added something truly redemptive to our story. So as much as I'm writing for him, I'm also writing on behalf of each of his grandchildren.

On his birthday, February 12th, Donivan received the tough news that he has oropharyngeal cancer. A sizable tumor was found on the back of his tongue, and it has spread to both of his lymph nodes, which have become noticeably enlarged and hardened. Doctors are still working to fully understand his condition, and he has a PET scan scheduled for Wednesday, March 5th.

Following the scan, on Friday, March 7th, he is set to undergo surgery to remove the tumor on his tongue. After the surgery, he will face a challenging seven-week course of chemotherapy. Depending on his response and the results of the PET scan, his doctors will decide if he needs any additional radiation treatment.
